What made you return to Cairn?
The team at Cairn have a real passion for what we do, which is not something I have experienced in previous environments. We are constantly learning and pushing one another in the best way which creates a great sense of fulfilment in our roles. We have a great can do culture.
Describe your role in one sentence at Cairn?
As a Property Manager I act as main point of contact for a portfolio of properties in Glasgow and surrounding areas.
What is your proudest business achievement ?
Acquiring my level 3 Chartered institute of housing certification.
How has your industry changed in the last decade?
Since joining the industry in 2012 there has been a considerable amount of change. Tightening of legislation and safety measures within rented properties. The introduction of safe deposit schemes and strict compliance and legislation for agents to abide by, which saw many agencies close their doors. The introduction of the Private residential tenancy in 2017, set out to create more security for tenants. Most significantly the importance of the private rented sector in recent years with the demand for property at an all time high.
Give us an interesting fact about yourself?
I am a black belt in Karate.
What is the best piece of business advice you have been given?
Take accountability, don’t take things personally and always do your best.
What advice would you give your 18 year old self?
To have more confidence, stay in the present and eat lots of pizza because you can’t get away with it later.
Who are your hero’s inside and outside of business?
Inside of business my hero’s would be anyone who has strong morals and operates with integrity, willingness to listen and always be helpful.
Outside of business my hero is my younger sister who has overcome major challenges in her life and is flying higher than she ever thought possible. I am in awe of what she has achieved.
What qualities do you most admire in others?
Honesty, kindness, being self-aware and unapologetically yourself.
How do you unwind out of work?
I spend a lot of time with my two rescue dogs. I also love to cook and draw.
Where is your favourite place in Scotland?
My favourite place in Scotland has to be Kintyre. So much of Kintyre is completely untouched and the beaches are stunning. My partner and I spend a lot of time there throughout the year. My favourite city however has to be Glasgow, of course.
