What your job entails? I arrange House in Multiple Occupancy (HMO) Licences for landlords that want to rent out their properties to 3 or more unrelated persons in the one flat. I liaise with Glasgow City Council, Fire Scotland and Licensing to ensure a smooth process for our landlords. It is my job to make sure our tenants are fully up to date with all fire safety, training and legislation which can be challenging at times having to work round University schedules.

How long have you worked at Cairn? 3 years at Cairn 12 years in Property.

What was it about the property industry that made you want to work in it? I have always worked in the Customer Services Industry, so it seemed like a natural progression after working for British Airways. The dynamics of the industry is such that no two days are the same and I love the variety.

The best thing about working in the property industry? The property industry never fails to surprise me. Cairn is so multi-faceted that I get to dip my toe in many different areas from dealing with the legalities of HMO licensing to training our students in Fire Safety in the property. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their life stories. Cairn enables me to do this on a daily basis.

What’s the best thing about working at Cairn? “Teamwork makes the dream work” The team that I work with are the most experienced in the industry. Cairn is committed to being the best and that clearly shows in the way we operate. Working with such professional people makes life so much easier.

The most unusual thing you’ve encountered working at Cairn? You certainly need to have an open mind working with students. I’m sure I checked a young gentleman into one of our rooms……. And imagine my surprise when I walked into the room and there was a pair of high heeled stilettos sticking out from under the duvet!!!!!

What do you like to do in your spare time, interests, hobbies etc? My Border Collie takes up most of my spare time these days. Walking, socialising in the West End, People watching.

Not a lot of people know that… Bruce Springsteen bought me a drink in NYC…… and asked for my phone number.  Sadly, I had to refuse…….. my then husband was at my side.
