This month, Cairn celebrates its 20th Anniversary, and what a quick 20 years it has been! It all started back in 1999 when David Rowand, now Managing Director saw a gap in the market.

David started off his career following in his father’s footsteps by dabbling in the farming business, however he quickly realised that this wasn’t for him and tried his hand at financial services. That too was short lived and David found his expertise lay within the world of property. Meanwhile, David’s heart also belonged to his favourite sport, Rugby, and he was a former junior international rugby player when a knee injury hampered his performance and ultimately his chances of a professional career in the sport.

There is always a silver lining and David’s property career started shortly after, with an apprenticeship which gave him an insight into the ever changing sector. This quickly led to working for many high street estate agencies, such as Clyde and Allen and Harris. David’s eagle eye and years of experience spotted a gap in the market for a more bespoke service, providing more than just a traditional agency. Due to the success found in developing and managing investors properties, the next step was to open a letting business. Hence, Cairn was born.

20 years later, Cairn now operates across the Central Belt of Scotland and has offices in both Glasgow and Edinburgh with 24 trusted, experienced staff members who are all dedicated to providing the highest quality advice and service whenever possible. Nowadays, Cairn still focuses on managing and letting properties for investor portfolios while also letting and selling properties on behalf of landlords and individuals.

David still has a passion for rugby today, and Cairn sponsors various sporting clubs such as GHK Rugby and Hockey Club, Glasgow University Rugby Varsity Match and Glasgow Youth District Football League.
