Top Pizza Places in Glasgow’s West End
Dinner with friends? Date night? Somewhere to take the kids for lunch? Hey, maybe even a solo dining experience (#treatyourself)? There’s nothing better than a great pizza. Luckily, the West End of Glasgow has lots to offer no matter which neighbourhood you call home.
A real jewel in the Gibson Street crown, La Favorita is one of the best pizza joints in the West End, if not the entire city. Originating in Edinburgh, Scotland’s real capital now has its own version providing delicious authentic wood-fired pizzas for sitting in or taking away.
Go classic with their delicious margarita or if you’re feeling fancy (or showing off to your Tinder date) there’s plenty of unusual topping options too. Steak and Mustard and ‘The Flying Pig’ are definite must trys. Don’t dismiss the sides as just filler options either – sweet potato chips and macaroni croquettes are calling your name.
This place is ideal for a casual dinner catch up with pals or somewhere to treat the kids after a hard day’s school work. The funky interior and friendly staff give an instant homely vibe which will have you feeling like a regular on your first visit. It’ll be your la favourite in no time (see what we did there?).
The new kid on the Glasgow pizza block already has its feet firmly under the table. This newbie is located just opposite Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. The busy, chatty atmosphere is a treat and the pizza doesn’t disappoint. The authentic wood fired offerings are gorgeous and the simple but effective menu means you aren’t pouring over endless topping choices. You can cut straight to the important stuff – eating! It’s great value for money and the stylish branding doesn’t go amiss.
Upstairs from Ashton Lane’s cosy independent cinema is The Grosvenor Cafe, a quirky restaurant option for a trendy dinner or slightly fancier lunch. The menu is always varied but the crispy and flavoursome pizzas are a definite highlight. Topping options are simple but effective – think vegetable or pepperoni but with a twist. If you’re a student they’re particularly great bang for your buck – you’ll get one for a fiver with a soft drink. But even if your days of uni life are long behind you, the fresh food and impressive venue are worth a visit regardless.
This cheap and cheerful option might sometimes be overlooked in favour of the West End’s slightly more hip options but ignore it at your peril! The recently refurbished Little Italy is small and perfectly formed. You have the option to completely customise your pizza, choosing whatever toppings take your fancy on whatever size you think you can take on. The fresh Italian dough is a real treat and the wholesome, cafe style atmosphere is perfect for a quick catch up with pals or a meal out with kids. Takeaway is always fast and efficient so it’s a great option if you’re having a night in too.
The little sister of George Square’s La Vita restaurant, La Vita Spuntini is all about the small but perfectly formed. Italian tapas style dishes are the order of the day here, although if you fancy it you can get your pizza of choice in a larger size too. When it comes to topping combos there’s something for everyone and the bustling atmosphere makes it an excellent option for a big family get together or a work night out. They also do takeaway to as far West as Anniesland so you can enjoy your pizza from Byres Road or beyond!
You’ve had a wander in Kelvingrove of a Sunday afternoon and you’re in need of some nosh – look no further than The Little Cafe, a cute and authentic Italian enclave. This place might look like just another run of the mill cake and coffee option (although it’s good for those too) but it actually serves beautifully crisp homemade pizzas. On warmer days, you might want to take it to go and park on a bench in Kelvingrove, or, of course, you can sit in. We recommend one of the lovely window seats which let you soak up the Museum’s beautiful architecture in all its glory. You’ll find great value for money here too – there’s student discount and a two for £12 pizza option.
